Since joining the firm, Christopher J. Ertl has been
instrumental in providing superb legal service to a range of clients in high
profile criminal and civil taxation, civil rights litigation, and investment
fraud recovery. Ertl has a particular zeal for locating individuals, tracing
and legally seizing their assets for the ultimate return of funds to clients
who fall victim of sophisticated fraudulent schemes.
Ertl graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin
– Milwaukee in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and
Economics. He also earned a Master of Science degree from the University of
Wisconsin – Milwaukee in Criminal Justice.
In 1999, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin School of Law.
With a concentration on constitutional law, federal
jurisdiction, taxation and governmental authority, the University of Wisconsin Law School provided a solid framework for
strong client advocacy before powerful, well-funded governmental agencies
including the Internal Revenue Service and state Departments of Revenue. Initially honing his litigation skills on the
state and local levels, Ertl built and maintained a caseload in state criminal
defense and general practice before joining forces with Robert Bernhoft in
2002.
